BOOKS Discussion Group
The BOOKS Group started more than a decade ago as a Summer Gathering at Misquamicut State Beach. It continues on today, usually meeting at the Parlor at the church and sometimes the homes of individual group members. We meet over bag lunches with a shared dessert. Meeting every 5-6 weeks, this group is facilitated by Rev. Ruth with the group members choose their own books to read. This group is open to any and all church members as well as folks in the community. Copies of the group’s list of books read is available through the church office, in case you’re curious about what we read…
Ladies Who Lunch
This delightful group of ladies, meets approximately once a month for lunch at a local restaurant just to enjoy good food and each other’s company! Open to all the ladies of the church and their friends. Advance registration for these events is required so appropriate reservations can be made at local restaurants chosen by the group.
Volunteering for Congregational Fund Raising Events
We have two major fund raising events which are both a lot of work and a lot of fun! Volunteers are needed in every imagined capacity and always welcomed. These two events are:
- THE CHRISTMAS BAZAARS (yes, there are 2 of them)! Volunteers to work the individual events and to prepare items for sale including baked goods, candies, relishes, jams, pickles as well as miniature Christmas Trees, Wreaths in many sizes, fresh greens. The Bazaars also feature Gift Baskets, the Nostalgia Boutique, Jewelry, Books and more! Many hands needed!
- ATTIC TREASURES is a one-day indoor yard sale event which also requires many volunteers to pull off each spring. Sorting through donations, setting up, selling the day of, cleaning up – It takes a lot of folks to make this happen and it’s always a good time!
